4. What will you have to pay for my services?

Investment — services and costs

I will provide you with an initial consultation at the cost of £365. This 90 minute meeting helps me to understand your financial objectives and will confirm how I can support you in working towards these. I will also discuss the cost, and levels, of my services both initially and throughout my relationship with you.

I charge my services by way of a fee. These fees are either fixed, based on a percentage of the amount you invest, or an hourly rate.

If you pay for my services directly, I accept payment by cheque or bank transfer (but we do not accept cash as payment) and I will issue a receipt to you.

Three stages of service

Stage What it covers
1) Advice — financial review and recommendation Gathering information about your existing financial arrangements and full personal circumstances; understanding your investment knowledge and attitude and tolerance towards investment risk; recommendation of an asset allocation model that matches your risk profile and assessment of any existing holdings; preparation of recommendations; second appointment to explain and discuss recommendations in detail.
Cost £1,250 – £1,750 (depending on complexity and agreed in advance). Complex scenarios include more than three pensions to consolidate, transitional protections, blended strategies, non-standard investments, lifetime allowance advice. The initial discussion fee of £365 is credited to this amount.
2) Transaction — policy arrangement and implementation Handle fund and policy administration; ensure documents are issued as expected; confirm all actions in writing — when you instruct me, preferably in writing, to proceed with recommendations.
3) Review — ongoing reviews Structured reviews, assessment of circumstances and plan changes (implementation may be chargeable and agreed in advance), regular updates on your holdings — full range discussed at initial consultation.

Charging structure — advice only (15-minute increments)

Role Rate
Financial Planning Consultant £240 per hour
Administrator £75 per hour

Hours are estimated and charged in advance; cost is fixed and agreed at the outset. Full payment is required before work begins. Minimum transaction fee £250.

Serviced proposition — lump sum investments and transfers

Full financial planning: advice, transactions and ongoing reviews.

My fee is 1.5% of the amount you invest or transfer, with a minimum combined household investment of £200,000 across all accounts (pensions, general investments, and ISAs). I’m happy to discuss flexibility if your total is slightly below this level.

Payment can be taken from your investment on receipt by the provider or paid directly by you.

Example: investment of £200,000 → implementation fee £3,000.

Serviced proposition — ongoing fees

0.85% per annum on total value of your investment(s) at each 12-month anniversary, paid pro-rata in arrears. Amounts fluctuate with portfolio value. Charges can be deducted from investments or paid directly; paying via investments may affect tax thresholds — discussed and confirmed in your recommendation report.

If annual fees fall below £250, I may cease annual ongoing suitability reviews while still forwarding correspondence and generic questions; full reviews remain available by agreement on fee.

Cancelling ongoing services: written confirmation required; payments cease within 21 business days after collection of any due proportion of period charges.

Regular premium savings or investments

Transactions within the serviced arrangement are included at no extra cost (e.g. regular contributions, withdrawals, Bed & ISA). Transactions outside that arrangement are charged at the hourly rates above.

Fixed fees may be quoted for specific projects — ask for details.

Julian Harris Adviser Network Limited asks clients to sign a fee agreement before chargeable work begins, to avoid confusion later.

Cancellation rights

You will normally have a 30-day cancellation period for life, pure protection, payment protection or pension policies, and 14 days for other policies. Start dates and how to cancel are set out in your product disclosure information.

Cancelling a single-premium contract may mean you bear market losses. An agreed initial advice fee may still be due if a product is not implemented or not kept beyond the cancellation period.

Insurance — fees

Statement Applies
A fee — exact amount agreed in writing before work begins.
No fee for advising and/or arranging Term Assurance, Mortgage Protection Assurance, Critical Illness Insurance, Accident, Sickness and Unemployment Insurance. I am paid commission based on the premium for any policy arranged.

Your quotation will set out any other fees for a particular insurance policy.

Mortgages — fees and refunds

Option Detail
Standard mortgage advice fee Fixed advice fee of £500 on application, which may be supplemented by lender commission. Standard mortgages: residential and personal buy-to-let purchases, remortgages, and further advances that are not “complex” as defined below.
Complex mortgage advice fee Total fee £750 on application; may be supplemented by commission. Complex cases include multiple income sources, foreign income, debt consolidation, more than three applicants or guarantor-supported applications, portfolio landlords, limited company or SPV buy-to-let, and similar.
Illustration and lender fees Your mortgage illustration sets out fees. Arranging finance may involve arrangement, booking and valuation fees and procuration fee to the firm from the lender.
Refund if the mortgage does not complete Applies
No refund if you decide not to proceed; your fee may be carried forward once within three months if something prevents continuation of an application.
